Client: Gotham Center
The Gotham Center is a research and public education institution, sponsored by The Graduate Center, CUNY, dedicated to advancing scholarly and public understanding of New York City’s rich and living past. I worked with Gotham Center to create a proof of concept multimedia self-guided walking tour “app” around the history of New York City and the American Revolution.

The Gotham Center team had preliminary branding from their very first version of the site include color schemes based on historical home colors and a name. It was on me to create a logo that spoke to their historical content, and finalize the color palette and font choices to make mobile and web friendly for the walking tour.

The Gotham Center had done quite a bit of research and had a ton of content to put on the site. Considering that they also wanted to create a mobile friend walking tour, we decided to organize the content into an abbreviated version for the walking tour and the long form version in the library for further reading.
I designed the walking tour pages to prioritize mobile usage and included:Easy tap icons to move back and forward between tour stops.
Google map links for each stop so folks could easily navigate on the go,
truncated content to keep limit continuous scrolling with a "continue reading" to expand the content as desired,
and a stop menu for every page for users to navigate to stops of interest or review information in a different order.

The Gotham Center ran Link NYC ads for the walking tour app. I created four animated ads featuring interesting facts from the tour complete with QR codes to easily lead views to the site.

The Gotham Center collaborated with the New York City Fire Museum to hold exhibit space in the museum and distribute brochures about the walking tour. I designed the exhibit poster and the the brochures on display in the museum.
